Extraordinary pearl of Lucca is the mosaic facade Baslic San Frediano
The impact upon entering and looking at the front facade is remarkable
The Romanesque style Bsilica is one of the oldest places of worship in Lucca and
it is located in the homonymous square
The façade is in smooth stone and placed above we find the mosaic
It dates back to the twelfh century with ascension of Christ among the Amongels
in the presence of the apostles
Originally the Madonna was also depicted but it was also destroyed for the
opening of the central single lancet window.
It belongs to the Byzantine-style school of Berlinghieri and can be reached through
via Fillungo towards Porta Elisa on the left
